How to adjust the bicycle rim

1. If the rim is severely deformed, it is difficult to correct it only by the spokes. At this time, the wheel should be removed, and the wheel should be stepped on and hammered for rough leveling.


2. Adjust the circle first. Loosen first and then tighten is the principle. First find the lowest point. If the lowest point is at the position of bar A on the right, loosen bar A 1/4 turn (90 degrees), and at the same time, loosen the two adjacent bars on the left side each 1/8 turn (45 degrees), adjust the range to the left =Right is the principle, such as right 1/4=left 1/8X2, otherwise the plane deformation will occur, which is often called "close". The specific adjustment range depends on the degree of depression. Generally, it should not be too large, and it should be adjusted in place gradually. Don't expect to achieve satisfactory results all at once. If the lowest point is between two bars, the two bars are loosened 1/4 week each. If necessary, the farther strips should also be loosened appropriately.


3. Then, find the highest point of protrusion. If the most convex point is at the position of bar A on the right, then tighten the bar A 1/4 turn (90 degrees), and at the same time, the two adjacent ones on the left side are each 1/8 turn (45 degrees); if the most convex point is between the two bars In between, the two are tight for 1/4 of a week each. If necessary, the farther bars should be tightened appropriately.

Adjust according to the above method until the longitudinal runout does not exceed 1MM.


4. Leveling. Also known as "take the dragon", that is to adjust the left and right swing. Find the maximum left swing. If it is at the position of the right bar A, tighten the bar A 1/4 turn (90 degrees). At the same time, loosen the two adjacent ones on the left side each 1/8 turn (45 degrees); if at two In between, tighten the right bar for 1/4 of a week and loosen the left bar for 1/4 of a week. Look for the largest swing to the right and make adjustments.


5. Adjust the center. That is, the rim should be located in the center of the hub (the entire length of the flywheel should be considered for the rear wheel). Otherwise, it may deviate from the center line of the frame and the front and rear wheels are not in the same plane. The method is, if it leans to the left, then loosen the left and tighten the right by the same amount, and vice versa.


6. Adjusting the circle requires patience and careful work, through repeated adjustments until the requirements are met. Generally, the single-layer rim must be deflated before adjustment, otherwise the steel bar may puncture the tire, and the adjustment of the knife ring (double-layer rim) does not require deflation.
